Privacy Policy

Switch Focus is made by Haris Skeledzija, an individual developer in Bosnia and Herzegovina ("I", "me"). This page explains exactly what the app and this website collect. The short version: your camera never leaves your computer, and I collect as little as I can to run the trial and licenses.
Your camera
Switch Focus uses your webcam to estimate which monitor you're looking at. All of this happens on your computer. Each camera frame is turned into a few numbers (the direction of your head and eyes) and then discarded. No images or video are saved, and none are ever sent anywhere. Your calibration (those numbers for each monitor) is saved in the app's settings folder on your computer only.
The free trial
So that reinstalling the app can't restart the trial, the app sends my trial server (api.switchfocus.app) a one-way hash of your computer's system ID. The server stores only that hash and the date it first saw it. The hash can't be turned back into your system ID, and it isn't stored with your name, email or IP address.
Licenses and payments
Purchases are handled by Polar, who act as the merchant of record. Polar collects your name, email, payment and billing details to process the order, send your license key and handle tax and refunds; their privacy policy covers that data. I can see your order (name, email, country, amount) in Polar's dashboard so I can help you with it. I never see your full card details.
When you activate a key, the app sends the key and your computer's name (its hostname, so you can tell your computers apart in the customer portal) to Polar. The app checks the key with Polar again about once a month.
The waitlist
If you join the Windows or macOS waitlist, I store your email address and the platform you picked. I use it only to email you when that version is out, and then delete the list. To be removed earlier, email me.
This website
This site has no analytics, no tracking, no ads and no cookies, and it loads nothing from other companies. Like any web server, it keeps standard access logs (IP address, time, page requested, browser) for security and troubleshooting, and I don't use them for anything else.
The download links point to GitHub, and the social links to X, Instagram, Reddit and YouTube; those sites have their own privacy policies.
Updates
The Linux AppImage checks GitHub for new versions when it starts. GitHub sees that request like any web request.
Your rights
You can ask me what data I hold about you, and ask me to correct or delete it, by emailing hello@switchfocus.app. I don't sell or share personal data with anyone except Polar as described above.
Changes
If this policy changes, I'll update this page and the date at the top.
These pages are written in plain language so they're easy to read. Questions about any of it: hello@switchfocus.app.
