# Switch Focus

> Switch Focus is a desktop app for people with two or more monitors. It uses the webcam to see which monitor you're looking at and moves keyboard focus and the mouse to the window on that monitor, so you can look at a screen and start typing. Face tracking runs locally on the computer with MediaPipe; no video is recorded or uploaded. Available for Linux (X11) and Windows 10/11 (beta); macOS is coming. $19 once for up to 3 computers, with a 14-day free trial.

## How it works

- Calibrate once: look at the camera, then at a few dots on each monitor. Setup takes about a minute.
- Look at another monitor: after a short dwell (about 300 ms), the top window on that monitor is activated and the mouse moves to where it last was on that screen. A quick glance at the edge of a screen doesn't switch.
- Type: keystrokes land in the window on the screen you're looking at.
- It runs in the background (minimize sends it to the tray) and can be paused any time.

## Requirements

- Two or more monitors and a webcam on one of them (built-in or USB).
- Windows 10 or 11, or Linux with an X11 session plus `xdotool` and `x11-utils` (the .deb installs them). Wayland is not supported yet.
- A normally lit room; a bright window behind you makes tracking less reliable.

## Privacy

- Camera frames are turned into a head and eye direction on the computer and discarded; nothing is saved or sent.
- Tracking works offline. The app only goes online to check the trial, activate or validate a license, and check for updates.
- The website has no analytics and sets no cookies.
